Tipping Fee FAQs

Pay Less at the Dump, Here’s How!

Mixed waste is the most expensive (actually asbestos is more expensive), usually $300–$450 per tonne depending on the transfer station. Separating your rubbish can reduce this significantly.

Green waste like branches, lawn clippings, and trimmings costs around $250–$300 per tonne. It’s one of the cheaper waste types to tip.

Masonry waste (bricks, concrete, tiles, pavers) is usually charged at $20–$110 per tonne, which is almost a quarter of what mixed waste costs.

Separate your loads. Masonry, green waste, timber, e-waste, and metal all have discounted or free tipping options. Only mix rubbish when you have to.

Yes. Clean, untreated timber can be tipped for about $250-300 per tonne, cheaper than mixed rubbish. Treated wood may attract higher rates.

Most scrap metal like steel, aluminium, and iron is free to dump. Some scrap yards may even pay you for clean, sorted metal by the kilo.

Yes. Most local transfer stations accept e-waste for free, items like monitors, printers, laptops, and small electronics. Keep them separate to avoid charges.

Yes, fees vary by location and waste type. It’s worth calling ahead to compare rates, especially for sorted loads like green waste or masonry.

The Sydney Tipping Fee Cheat Sheet (2026)

How to Keep Your Clean-Up Costs Low

While our hydraulic tipper trailers come at one flat daily rate, Sydney transfer stations (the tip) charge based on the weight and type of waste you bring in. To help you budget for your project, we have put together this expert guide on what to expect at the weighbridge.

Mixed General Waste (Approx. $300 to $450 per tonne)

This is the standard catch-all rate. It includes household junk, furniture, plastic, and general debris. Most facilities have a minimum charge for the first 100kg to 150kg, so it is usually best to go with a full trailer.

Green Waste (Approx. $260 to $300 per tonne)

Save around 40% by keeping your organic waste separate. If your load consists only of grass clippings, branches, and untreated wood, you will usually pay significantly less than the general waste rate.

Clean Masonry (Approx. $25 to $77 per tonne)

This is a strong renovation tip. Bricks, concrete, and roof tiles are highly recyclable. If you do not mix these with other waste, the cost is usually very low. Do not throw heavy bricks into a general waste load, or you can end up paying much more than needed.

Scrap Metal (Usually free)

Most Sydney transfer stations, including those near our Campsie yard like Bingo Greenacre, may let you drop off clean metal (old BBQs, copper pipes, or iron roofing) for $0. It is always worth checking before you weigh your main load.

3 Strategies to Save $100+ on Your Next Run

This is a strong renovation tip. Bricks, concrete, and roof tiles are highly recyclable. If you do not mix these with other waste, the cost is usually very low. Do not throw heavy bricks into a general waste load, or you can end up paying much more than needed.

1. Master the layering method

If you have multiple types of waste, do not mix them together. If you show up with a trailer full of bricks mixed with old carpet, the tip may charge the higher general waste rate for the entire weight. Load your masonry in one run and your household junk in another to help keep your bill as low as possible.

2. Choose the right transfer station

Since you are picking up from our Campsie yard, you are well positioned near some of the city’s efficient facilities.

For tradies and builders, Padstow, Greenacre and Auburn can be good options for turnaround times on heavy loads.

For residents and DIYers, South Strathfield, Rockdale and Artarmon can be good options for easier access when towing with a standard SUV or ute.

3. Strip the metal before you weigh

Got an old fridge or some scrap fencing? Throw it on top. When you arrive at the tip, pull into the metal recycling bay first. Many facilities will let you unload metal before you hit the main weighbridge. This reduces the total weight of your paid load and can help save money.
